Emergency Dental Care We Provide in McMinnville

Many dental emergencies can be treated right here in our office, and we can plan your follow-up care in the same place. We commonly help patients with the following problems.

Severe Toothache and Tooth Infection

Tooth pain that keeps you up at night often means the nerve inside the tooth is inflamed or infected. We'll pinpoint the source, relieve your discomfort, and save the tooth with root canal therapy whenever possible.

Removing the tooth is not the first option.

Chipped, Cracked, or Broken Teeth

A fall, a sports injury, or biting down on something hard can damage a tooth in seconds. Depending on the damage, we may repair it with a tooth-colored composite filling, an inlay or onlay, or a custom dental crown.

Each option restores the tooth's strength and natural appearance.

Lost Fillings and Loose Crowns

When an old filling or crown comes loose, the tooth underneath is exposed and often sensitive. We can protect it with a temporary crown while your permanent restoration is made.

Knocked-Out or Missing Teeth

With a knocked-out tooth, every minute counts. Pick the tooth up by the crown, not the root, and rinse it gently. Try to place it back in the socket, or keep it in a cup of milk, and call us right away.

If the tooth can't be saved, we offer bridges, dental implant restorations, and dentures to rebuild your smile.

Broken Dentures

A cracked or broken denture makes eating and speaking difficult. We can assess the damage and help restore a comfortable, secure fit.

What to Do During a Dental Emergency

A few simple steps can ease pain and protect your tooth until you reach our office:

•  Toothache: Rinse with warm salt water and floss gently to remove trapped food. Take an over-the-counter pain reliever as directed. Never place aspirin directly on the gums.
•  Broken tooth: Save any pieces, rinse your mouth, and apply a cold compress to the cheek to reduce swelling.
•  Lost crown: Keep the crown and bring it with you. Avoid chewing on that side.
•  Bleeding: Apply gentle pressure with clean gauze for 10 to 15 minutes.

When to Visit the ER Instead

Go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 right away for any of these:

•  Facial swelling that spreads toward your eye or neck
•  Difficulty breathing or swallowing
•  A high fever with tooth pain
•  A possible jaw fracture
•  Bleeding that won't stop

Once you're stable, we're here to handle the dental treatment that follows.
